Analysis on Lightning Protection of Elevator

2023-09-26

Elevator is one of the essential supporting facilities in modern buildings. With the rapid development of China's economy, the number of high-rise buildings is increasing, the level of intelligence is rapidly improving, and the elevator lightning accident is on the rise. After a heavy thunderstorm in the summer of 2013, more than 10 elevators in one community in our city suffered varying degrees of lightning damage. Therefore, the elevator lightning protection has become our concern.

1. Structural analysis of elevators

The elevator is mainly composed of traction machine, control cabinet, car, door, guide rail, speed limiter, buffer, counterweight device, accompanying cable and traction machine wire rope and other components. The normal operation of the elevator is controlled by the power supply system, control system, communication system and power system. According to its location, it can be divided into four parts: elevator machine room, shaft, car and landing. The machine room is generally located at the top of the elevator shaft. The control and power system of the elevator are installed here. It is the brain and heart of the elevator. Lightning protection of the machine room is the focus of elevator lightning protection.

2. The main way of lightning invasion elevator

There are many ways for lightning to invade buildings and weak current equipment. Modern intelligent buildings have good external lightning protection devices and good grounding systems. The main ways to harm weak current equipment in buildings are counterattack and lightning induction. Counterattack is because the strong lightning current causes high resistance and induced voltage drop on the grounding resistance and down lead, which makes the grounding device at low potential or the metal object connected to it appear high potential when there is no lightning strike, causing equipment breakdown. Lightning induction refers to the direct impact of lightning on or near the building, and the electromagnetic field of the lightning flow channel will produce spatial induction on the outside and inside of the building. If the building, elevator machine room and pipeline are not shielded, high electromotive force will be induced in some parts of the building and equipment, which will damage the elevator equipment. Lightning induction often enters through the power line and signal line of weak current equipment, resulting in overvoltage and then breakdown of sensitive microelectronic devices of the equipment, resulting in equipment power interruption, communication interruption, component module burning, etc., directly causing damage to the elevator motherboard.
