Metal oxide surge arrester (surge arrester, lightning arrester) is a kind of overvoltage limitator. When overvoltage occurs, the voltages between two terminals of the surge arrester do not exceed designated value so as to make the electric apparatus avoid damages caused by overvoltage. After the action of overvoltage, it enables the system to return to normal conditions rapidly.  

This series product is gapless polymer surge arrester for export and its performances accord with the stipulations of international standard IEC60099-4.

 

Construction features

Metal oxide surge arrester is assembled by metal oxide varistors of excellent volt-ampere characteristics, electrodes and housing. 

Polymer surge arrester has the following features:

1. It solves the issue of seal radically.

2. The polymer housing is of climate aging resistance, wide operating temperature range, strong hydrophobic characteristic, recovery and migration features. It can work normally at high altitude, under heavy dirtiness and awful weather and prevent vicious explosions. 

3. External metal parts adopt high-strength aluminum alloy and etc. corrosion-resistant materials, so it will extend pre-test cycle and need no maintenance during serviceable life.  

4. It is small and light.

 

Normal operating conditions

1. The ambient temperature is not higher than +40 ℃, not lower than -40 ℃; 

2. Solar radiation;

Note: The impact of the sun’s maximum exposure (1.1kW/m2) has been considered in the way of preheating test samples in type test. If there are other heat sources near the lightning arrester, the usage of lightning arrester needs consultation between the two sides of supply and demand. 

3. The altitude does not exceed 1000m; 

4. The frequency of electrical source is not less than 48Hz, not more than 62Hz; 

5. The power frequency voltage applying permanently between the terminals of surge arrester should not exceed the continuous operating voltage of surge arrester; 

6. Areas of seismic intensity of and below 7 degrees; 

7. The maximum wind speed does not exceed 35m/s.
