How can summer tourism prevent lightning strikes?

2023-09-26

In summer, the climate is hot and there are many thunderstorms. At this time, when traveling, especially when visiting the ancient temples in the mountains, you must pay attention to the sub-prevention of being injured by lightning, and you must not take it lightly.

Lightning is a natural phenomenon caused by rapid discharge between thunderclouds and buildings and trees on the ground in rainy days. Thunderstorm clouds are low, with yin and yang electricity in the clouds. When they are close to the ground, they are easily attracted to each other with yin and yang electricity on the ground. When they touch each other, they will form lightning and thunder. This kind of thunder is called "landing thunder". The current during lightning is direct current, the current intensity is as high as tens of thousands of amperes, which lasts about ten microseconds. The lightning temperature can reach 6000-10000 ℃, and the heat generated at the contact point can melt a 3.8mm thick iron plate. When lightning occurs, the high temperature vaporizes the water droplets in the flash channel, and the air volume expands rapidly. The strong explosion sound that occurs is lightning. This explosive effect can split trees, collapse buildings, and injure people or livestock who have no time to escape in the wild, and even kill people and animals immediately.

Lightning damage to the human body, the direct effect of current and overpressure or dynamic effect, as well as high temperature effect. When a person is subjected to a lightning shock, the current quickly passes through the human body, which can lead to heartbeat, respiratory arrest, brain tissue hypoxia and death. In addition, when lightning strikes, sparks are produced, which can also cause different degrees of skin burns. Lightning injury can also cause dendritic lightning strike lines, exfoliation of the epidermis, bleeding in the skin, and rupture of the eardrum or viscera. Therefore, summer tourism should pay special attention to the following preventive work:

① When it thunders and rains, it is strictly forbidden to stay on the top of the mountain or on high hills. It is also forbidden to continue to push to high places to watch the rain. It is not allowed to hide under big trees or near telegraph poles, nor to walk or stand in open fields. It is necessary to hide in low-lying places as soon as possible, or to find room floors or dry caves to hide as much as possible.

② During thunderstorms, do not use metal umbrellas, take off metal glasses, watches and trousers. If you want to leave your bicycle as soon as possible, you should also stay away from other metal objects to avoid being hit by lightning due to conduction.

In thunderstorm weather, do not go to the river, river, lake swimming, boating, fishing, etc.

④ In the event of lightning, thunder, wind and rain, if tourists rest in the hotel, they should immediately turn off the indoor TV, tape recorder, stereo, air conditioner and other electrical appliances to avoid conduction. When it thunders, it is safer to stay in the center of the room. Do not stay under the electric light. Do not rely on pillars, walls, doors and windows to avoid being unexpectedly induced by electricity during thunder.

When a lightning strike occurs, the traveling companion should immediately take the patient to the hospital. If breathing and heartbeat have stopped at that time, you should immediately do mouth-to-mouth artificial respiration and chest massage on the spot, and actively carry out on-site rescue. Do not rush to transport to the hospital without rescue, otherwise it will delay the pathogenesis and cause the patient to die. Sometimes, artificial respiration and chest massage should be continued on the way to the hospital. In addition, care should be taken to keep the patient warm. If there are manic restlessness, convulsions and other mental symptoms, but also for its head cold compress. For the local area of electric burns, it is only necessary to keep it dry or bandage it under emergency conditions.

When a thunderstorm occurs, even if a lightning rod is installed, the indoor TV, refrigerator and antenna power supply should be quickly unplugged to prevent unnecessary losses caused by space electromagnetic waves. In addition, from the formation and occurrence process of lightning and thunder, the open field, the top of buildings, under tall trees, near rivers and lakes ponds and wet areas are lightning accident prone areas.

Wang Hongmin, member of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Building Electrical Installations: Outside, consider the lightning activity area and look at the distance of lightning activity. Generally, you can judge the distance by listening to the thunder. Don't hide under lightning rods and big trees. Do not play umbrellas in open places, because umbrellas have needle tips and the electric field strength should be concentrated. Don't use your cell phone in an open space. To crouch down, feet together.

Experts finally emphasized that in case of thunderstorms, citizens had better hide in a building equipped with metal doors and windows or lightning rods. A car with a metal body is also the best "lightning shelter". Once these buildings or cars are struck by lightning, their metal frames or lightning arresters or the metal itself will lead the lightning current into the ground.
